EDS have secured the second phase of works at the new football stadium in North London.
Comprising smaller and less complex louvre panels, this phase includes special panels with a raking edge, to be installed in to a glazing frame utilising a 38mm x 20mm nylon glazing block. The supply only contract will be completed by early May in time for the opening of the new stadium late summer.
EDS have been employed to replace damaged solar shading at Futures House in Egham, Surrey.
The existing solar shading, supplied by others some years ago, was damaged by a scissor lift (or cherry picker) which damaged the structural support arms and several solar shading panels, leaving a gap in the system. The client has finally agreed a settlement with the insurers and EDS are employed to carry out the works, working weekends to ensure little disruption to the office staff. The works will commence in early March and are expected to be complete by the end of March.
EDS will fabricate a solar shading blade to closely match the existing system, so that the new panel will look aesthetically correct. However, trying to match years worth of dirt might be more of a challenge!

Duco have developed a new blade in their range of HP high performance blades. The 45HP louvre is similar to the existing 50HP blade, but has a design like the Z blades. In this way, we can now offer the perfect combination between a very good air flow rate and the aesthetic design of a Z blade.
The K-factor was provisionally set at 8, but will be finally determined after Duco have performed the necessary tests. The visual and physical free areas are 70% and 60% respectively. With this in mind, Duco now have three types in their range of high performance blades: the new 45HP, and the existing 50HP (88% and 68% visual and physical free areas) and 130HP (88% and 68% visual and physical free areas).
These 3 blades all use the same clip, and are therefore perfectly interchangeable in a project.
Please contact EDS for further details / prices.
Energy Design Solutions have commenced works on phase 2 of the Fareham Innovation Centre in Hampshire. The three storey office building is an extension to phase 1 which was completed a couple of years ago.
EDS will be supplying and installing the Ducosun 100D underslung brise soleil system to match the same system supplied on phase 1. Using bespoke curtain walling brackets free issued to the glazing contractor, aluminium flitch plates (arms) will be fitted to the glazing mullion in the factory by others and then EDS will be able to install the brise soleil rafter and blades at a later stage.
The 100D blade profile is installed to the underside of the rafter using pvc clips which are set at standard centres allowing the blade to be set at the perfect angle and position for optimum sun protection. The contract is expected to run until December.
Energy Design Solutions have commenced works on site this week to install a number of galvanised steel posts in preparation to install a plant louvre screen on the roof.
The plant louvre screen system is the Ducowall W35SZ blade profile which provides maximum plant screening with blades mounted on a 75mm pitch with the louvre mullion fixed directly to the front of the galvansied steel posts, using pre-drilled holes in the steelwork, and stainless steel fixings.
In addition to the louvre screen, EDS have also supplied a number of glazed-in weather louvre panels for the contract which are being installed by the glazing contractor.
Also EDS will be supplying and installing a brise soleil system using the Ducosun Linear 200 blade profile mounted between aluminium arms, in turn fixed back to structural steelwork brackets pre-installed by the client. The whole contract should be complete by the end of November.
